太陽系は、太陽を中心とした惑星とそれらを周回する天体の集まりだ。水星、金星、地球、火星、木星、土星、天王星、海王星の八つの惑星が太陽の周りを公転している。これらの惑星は、それぞれ異なる特徴を持つ。たとえば、木星や土星は巨大なガス惑星である一方、地球や火星は岩石惑星だ。また、太陽系には惑星以外にも、小惑星、彗星、そして多くの衛星が存在する。

Each of these planets has distinct characteristics. For example, Jupiter and Saturn are enormous gas giants, while Earth and Mars are rocky planets.
